Per AsperA, AD Astra
All adequate training is demanding regardless of where it is undertaken. The journey can be arduous. Although the path may be individualized, we make a commitment that the voyage will not be made alone.
Our Plan

Eschewing traditional hierarchies allows us to be responsive and empower talent without a loss of direction
Our Development
Achieving Escape Velocity

Phase 1: Plant
2019-2023
Led primarily by Dr. Deepinder Bal, from preparation to the successful establishment of the IM program along with the establishment of a sponsored TY program by Dr. William Maynard. Focused effort recruitment of innovators in both faculty and house staff.
Phase 2: Grow
2023-2027
Primarily led by Dr. William Maynard: a successful graduating class along with fellowship and job placement. Development of sponsored in-house fellowships, preceptorships, fellowship guidance committees, and clinical research committees. Recruitment efforts broaden to early adopters and some early majority to finish gaining critical mass.
Phase 3: Bloom
2027+
Accepting 1st graduates of Belmont medicine, sustaining in-house fellowships, committees, and a fertile and heralded recruiting ground for employers and fellowship programs. A sought out degree for prospective CMOs, program directors, and health policy leaders. Recruitment transitions from active to passive as program becomes self-sufficient.

Intern
Learning foundational medicine as well as becoming a safe clinician and diagnostician (e.g. sick vs. not sick). Directly supervised by attending physicians and more senior resident physicians. Usually the most emotionally difficult year in any training program due to the exposure to the breadth and depth of human suffering.
Our Mission

Maximizing learning opportunities in combination with efficient workflow creates a bustling experience while allowing residents to engage with the community they serve off-campus
"Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life"
